Using DoodleMaths: our favourite places to Doodle

3 min read

Using DoodleMaths for just a few minutes a day, or ‘little and often’, really does get results. Not only is it proven to prevent learning loss, it’s also a great way to build confidence in maths and, most importantly, have fun!

Designed to be used for just 10 minutes a day, DoodleMaths easily fits into even the busiest of schedules. Below are just some ideas for when and where you can Doodle as part of your daily routine.

1. At the breakfast table

Kick start the day with a healthy balance of cereal, fruit – and a few minutes of Doodling!

Although we don’t recommend eating and Doodling at the same time (you don’t want to risk a tablet falling into a bowl of porridge!), why not encourage your child to use the app just before or after eating their breakfast?

Doodling first thing in the morning is the perfect way to wake up sleepy minds and get brains into gear for the day ahead.

2. In the car

Whether you’re heading to town or going to see relatives, Doodling enroute is a great way to transform travel time into a productive experience.

DoodleMaths easily fits into short commutes and is the perfect way to keep children occupied during longer journeys. You could even challenge your child to see how many stars they can earn before you reach your destination!

3. In the garden or local park

All of the Doodle apps can be used offline, meaning that children can enjoy the sun while Doodling outside. Simply find a nice shady space and roll out the picnic blanket!

Why not invite your child to try to find the most creative place they can to Doodle? This could be in a garden chair, on the trampoline, or even up a tree!

4. In a study zone

Creating a study zone at home is a fantastic way to help children get into a great learning mindset, whether for homework or as part of home learning.

When your child is in their zone, encourage them to use the app as part of their studies. Or, save it as an end of work treat to reward their hard work.

5. On the sofa

Instead of lazing on the sofa half-watching whatever is on, transform your child’s TV time into an engaging educational experience! Instead, invite them to have a go at some games in DoodleMaths.

If your child is watching their favourite show, you could still encourage them to Doodle during advert breaks or when the show comes to an end.

6. When waiting…

Whether it’s waiting for a sibling to finish a swimming lesson or to get a new pair of school shoes fitted, there aren’t many children who like to sit patiently doing nothing!

Give your child your tablet and DoodleMaths, however, and the time will fly by.

7. …Or anywhere at all!

Most importantly, as DoodleMaths can be used offline, the possibilities for where they can use DoodleMaths are endless! From the top of Ben Nevis to on a gondola, you really can use Doodle just about anywhere. Just don’t try taking it for a swim…

Where does your child like to Doodle? Let us know on our Twitter or Facebook pages.

To recognise the hard work of children in this unusual year, we’re creating the Doodle Class of 2020, a photo collage celebrating our Doodlers.

To get involved, simply share a picture of your child Doodling in their favourite location by clicking on the button below. This could be anywhere from the sofa to a beach!
