One more or less than a given number 10-10
Introduced in the Reception curriculum as: "Say which numbers is one more or less than a given number"
One more means the number that comes next when you are counting. One less means the number that comes next when you are counting.
Example 1:
11 is one more than 10 .
Example 2:
10 is one less than 11 .
Example 3:
One more than 15 is 16 .
Example 4:
One less than 20 is 19 .
Example 5:

How many pears does the cat have ?
The dog has 14 pears.
The cat has one less pear than the dog. One less than 14 is 13.
So, the cat has 13 pears.
