Recognizing and using factor pairs

Introduced in the Year 4 curriculum as: "Recognise and use factor pairs and commutativity in mental calculations"

A factor is a whole number which exactly divides another whole number.

A factor pair multiplies together to make another number.

Example 1:

5 is a factor of 20 (it divides evenly into 20).

4 and 5 is a factor pair of 20.

These are all the factor pairs for 20:

1 and 20,

2 and 10,

4 and 5
