EZ Education are the creators of DoodleMaths and DoodleEnglish: award-winning, affordable online programmes which help children feel confident about learning.

About us

EZ Education was founded by two former teachers, Tom and Nicola, to support children from around the world in developing their skills and confidence in maths and English.

We have four apps for children: DoodleMaths, DoodleTables, DoodleEnglish and DoodleSpell. Browser versions are also available. We also have website-based dashboards for teachers and parents.

We have been short-listed for all the major awards in our sector, including Highly Commended at the Education Resource Awards.

Our company values are well-being, integrity, growth mindset, focus and education.

The role

You’ll work in a cross-department small team which consists of a project manager, a representative from the product team, a marketeer and between one and three developers. Together, you will identify areas which could be improved across the apps, the dashboards and the website and focus on finding and implementing solutions. You will liaise with other teams across the company to ensure that our products are at the cutting edge of technology.

Our technology

Our tech stack makes extensive use of AWS, with the bulk of the back-end supporting our dashboards and API developed in PHP and Vue.js, using the Laravel framework. AWS RDS Aurora MySQL is used for our back-end relational database. We use PHPUnit for automated feature testing and our code is maintained in various git repositories via AWS CodeCommit. Our mobile applications are currently built using Corona Labs cross-platform SDK; a primary focus of the team this year has been transitioning to using Unity – a move which is nearing completion.

Knowledge/Experience required

  • Minimum 1 year’s full stack software development experience
  • Excel when given responsibility and happy to work independently
  • A passion for education/li>
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Keen to learn
  • Desire to keep abreast of current changes and trends in technology
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Work well as part of a team

If this sounds like you and you would like to apply, it is essential that you write a covering email and then follow up with a phone call. CV only applications WILL NOT be considered or replied to. We want to know why you would like to join our company and see your communication skills in action, and we’d love to hear examples of you mentoring, coaching and growing individuals and teams.

Diversity

Here at EZ Education, we have designed our products to support children around the world, from local schools to refugee camps. We know that our customers come from a range of backgrounds and we want our company to truly reflect the diversity that we see among the children who benefit from our technology. We know that we need people with different backgrounds, cultures and experiences to help us best support children’s learning. We strongly encourage applications from any member of the community, but especially BAME candidates.
