Did DoodleMaths work well for you as a home learning solution?
Definitely! The assessment she had at the beginning put her back a fairway. But I see this as a good thing, as when she goes over some of her subjects she realises that she has been taught them and remembers bits of how to work things out, which has allowed her confidence to grow. She is so proud when I get emails saying her [DoodleAge] has improved. She smiles from ear to ear.
The small bite-size chunks [of work] are great. Plus, if there is anything that she gets stuck on or hasn’t quite grasped, I can add that part of the lesson as an extra and she can go back over it until she is sure she has grasped what she needs to remember next time she comes to it. The fact that the odd question from previous lessons pop-up in revision, along with what she has just learned, really help.

Has Kay’s maths ability improved since using DoodleMaths?
Although Kay is working behind where her actual DoodleAge is, it has helped her greatly! [DoodleMaths has] definitely helped her on her journey to catch-up to where she should be.
We are continuing all subjects throughout the summer in the hope that when school starts again in September she is more confident in herself, and [in her] ability she can do more independently.
Kayleigh has become confident enough that she is happy to start her lessons without me present. This is a big step up for her, as at the beginning she wouldn’t do her lessons unless I was sat next to her to guide her.

Which features of DoodleMaths do you and Kay like most?
All of it! [I like] the fact that there is an assessment at the start to find out where her ability is, so she isn’t struggling to learn something she finds hard. The bite-size lessons [are also great], so she learns and is able to retain information.
I also like the ability to add extra lessons, so if she hasn’t grasped something, I can add it back onto the lesson plan. The target zone [in the app also] shows Kay if she has worked hard enough to stay on track.
I like being able to see how she is progressing through the Parent Dashboard, and seeing what her goal is how long it will be until she reaches it. … Kay enjoys seeing when she has hit a new streak [and] likes looking at the parent side of things with me, especially how much she has progressed. I tell her when I have received an email to say she has gone up in DoodleAge, and this boosts her confidence.
I like the fact I have been able to download all subjects onto our laptops, my phone and Kindle so that no matter where she is she can do her work – and she is more than happy to do it!
Any final comments?
Only that I wish I had found this sooner – I have three older children and all of them would have benefitted from using Doodle.
